of five armies against the Nationalist Government is not true in so far as Tang himself is concerned. is true that something was a foot a few months ago in Manchuria to form a combination of the "older generals" but Tang Seng-chi never participated in any conference either personally or by deputy.
7. Tang Seng-chi has no wish to be mixed up in politics. If, however, a large section of the people want him for the preservation of the present status quo, he may re-emerge from retirement, but he will never be a party to disturbing the prevailing state of affairs. Tang's family are also in the Colony, and he is building a house costing about $150,000 on Stubbs Road. Chan Yau-ka does not know whether he has bought other property in the Colony: at any rate none has been acquired in Tang's own name. It is well known that Tang Seng-chi although not a poor man, is by no means wealthy; he has just sufficient to live
comfortably in retirement.

by the fact that his most able Lieutenant, Chan Kung-
